Bent Jorgen Mork, age 82, passed away at home in Oak City, on February 5, 2015. He was born on February 1, 1933 in Aalborg, Denmark to Elmer Georg and Mary Birgette Pedersen Mork. He grew up in Denmark along with one sister, Sally. When he finished his formal schooling in Denmark, he apprenticed as a cabinet maker. When Bent was 15, his family immigrated to Salt Lake City to be closer to the LDS Church and to receive the Temple blessings.

One summer between his high school years he came to McCornick to work as a farm hand, and met Nola Heyborne. After he graduated from East High School, Bent and Nola were married, on July 13, 1951 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to Delta in 1954, to farm, where they raised 8 children.

Bent was an extremely hard worker and always held 2-3 jobs to provide for his family and give them a better life than he knew as a child growing up in an impoverished, war-stricken time.

Bent worked as a general contractor, building many homes in the area. He also did maintenance for many of the LDS Church facilities. He later was employed as Maintenance Supervisor for the Millard County School District for 16 years, before retiring.

Bent had a deep love of scouting, and received the Second Miler Award for his lifelong service. He maintained a connection to the scouts through many church callings, and loved the experience of taking the Explorers camping and hiking in the Uintahs.

Bent was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in numerous callings including Bishop, and in the High Council, but his favorite callings were as Regional Welfare Agent and Gospel Doctrine Teacher. His favorite hobbies included woodworking and laboring on the farm.

Nola passed away September 9, 2002. He married Sandra Finlinson Dewsnup on January 11, 2003 and they have since made their home in Oak City.

Bent was extremely proud to be a naturalized American citizen but always remembered his home country of Denmark and his family there. After 35 years he was finally able to make several visits, accompanied by his wife, and each one of his 8 children.

Bent is survived by his wife: Sandra; children: Susan (Robert) Woolsey, Delta; Janice (Sid) Mortensen, Pleasant Grove; Vicki (Kevin) Ivie, Delta; Paul Mork, Salt Lake; Chris (Sue) Mork, Hinckley; Scott (Laurie) Mork, Herriman; Ryan (Traci) Mork, Winchester, Kentucky; Lisa (Mike) Jacketta, Evanston, Wyoming; 27 Grandchildren; 24 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great Grandchildren; sister: Sally Morck, Salt Lake. Sandra’s children: Russell (Denise) Dewsnup, Oak City; DeAnn (David) Steele, Oak City; Mark (Shannon) Dewsnup, Clearfield; Dixie (David) Christensen, Colorado Springs, Colorado; 10 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife: Nola, parents, and brother-in-law Reid Morck.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13, at 12 Noon, at the Oak City LDS Church. Viewings: Thursday evening, 6:00-8:00 PM, at the Nickle Mortuary; and Friday at the church, 10:00-11:40 AM, prior to services.  Burial will be at the Delta Cemetery.
