Kenneth Ray Cook, age 78, died from natural causes on Sunday, May 3, 2015, in Delta, Utah. He was born December 28, 1936 to Lucene Clark and Echo Rose Sampson Cook in Delta, Utah, the sixth of eight children. Ray went to school in Delta and his favorite subject was planning how to get out of it. He started work early in his life as a heavy equipment operator and leveled many pieces of land in and around Millard County, as well as other excavation projects inside and outside of Utah. He loved working with heavy equipment and was very skilled in what he did; always wishing he could level another piece of ground.
Ray married Clara Belle Bennett on March 22, 1958 in Ely, Nevada. Along with the children came dad’s favorites: dogs, horses, calves, goats and cats.
Ray was always an honest, hard worker and a man of integrity and tried to instill the same values in his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Ray is survived by his wife: Clara Belle; sons: Russell (Susan), Mapleton; Jim (Shelly), Delta; daughter: Jodi (Doug) Nielson, Lynndyl; brothers: Clark Cook, Orem; Rex Cook, Logan; sisters: Phyllis Bennett, Holden; Rosie Dobson, Idaho Falls, Idaho; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son: Douglas Wade Cook; parents; brothers: Robert, Stanley; sister: Donna.
Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, at 12:00 Noon, at the Delta City Cemetery. A Viewing will be held Wednesday morning, 10:30-11:40 AM, at the Nickle Mortuary before traveling to the cemetery.
