Marjorie West Sheldon

Marjorie Elma West Sheldon, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in Sheridan, Wyoming. She was born on October 3, 1923 in Lehi, Utah; the second of four children born to Floyd and Blanche Druscilla Felt West. Marjorie grew up in Ibapah, Utah, enjoying the country, riding horses, herding sheep and working in her father’s fields.

She graduated from Lehi High School, then began dating her childhood friend after he returned from service in WWII. She wed Stewart C Sheldon on March 1, 1946 in Elko, Nevada. They made there home in Ibapah and raised their 3 children: Bennett, Stewart, and Jolene. In 1968, the family moved to Sutherland, Utah. On April 12, 1982, her husband passed away.

Marjorie continued to be active in the community, cooking meals at the M.E. Bird Center for 10 years, and enjoying oil painting and crocheting. In 2009 as her health declined, she moved to Sheridan, WY to be near her son.

Marjorie is survived by her sons: Bennett Dee Sheldon and Stewart Brent Sheldon; daughter: Jolene C Jorgenson; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister: Lorna Marker. She was preceded in death by husband; brother: Bill West; sister: Beth West.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 19, at 2:00 PM, at the Ibapah LDS Church. Viewings will be held Friday evening, 6:30-8:00 PM, at the Nickle Mortuary, 190 S Center, Delta; and Saturday, 12:30-1:40 PM, prior to service. Burial will be in the Ibapah Cemetery.
