Donald Neil Schmutz

NeilSchmutz2.webDonald Neil Schmutz returned home to his Heavenly Father on January 14, 2016, at the age of 59, in his home in Oak City, Utah. Neil was born on March 24, 1956 in St. George, Utah to Donald F. and Merlene Lovell Schmutz. There he grew up and farmed with his father, Don, while attending Dixie High School. He loved riding motorcycles and farming. On June 3, 1978, he married the love of his life, Cathrynn Ann Fawcett, in St. George. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple on June 20, 1998. Neil and Cathy later bought a farm in Oak City and moved their family there in 1998, where they built a home on their farm two years later.

Neil loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandkids. He loved to go out and get wood and eventually learned to love the annual Christmas tree hunt. He loved all of his animals and believed in taking good care of them.

Neil is survived by his wife: Cathy; children: Cristi Lovell (Drex), Randy (Emily), Craig, and Nicole Robinson (Wayne); six grandchildren; mother-in-law: Sandra Miller and father-in-law, LeGrande Fawcett; sisters: Merrilee Colvin, Becky Hafen, Sherry Truman, and Susan Ashby; sisters-in-law: Connie Mitchell and Shelley Fawcett; brother-in-law: Jeff (Trish) Fawcett. He is preceded in death by his parents and a baby brother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., in the Oak City LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held Tuesday, 7-8 p.m., at the Nickle Mortuary in Delta; and Wednesday, 9:30-10:40 a.m., prior to service. Interment will be in the Oak City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the first responders and the staff at Delta Medical Center for all their efforts.
