ArnoldPew2.webArnold Eben Pew, Jr, age 94, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 in Provo, Utah. He was born on May 21, 1921 in Mesa, Arizona, one of six children born to Arnold E. and Velma Leah Shahan Pew. He grew up in Chandler, Arizona. He graduated from Mesa High School, and while there participated in football and track. On June 14, 1941, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Howard in the Mesa LDS Temple. They spent 66 wonderful years together, and raised 3 children. She died January 16, 2006.

Arnold attended the University of Northern Arizona and earned a degree in business. In 1940, he joined the Arizona National Guard. He served in the US Army during World War II and parachuted behind enemy lines into Normandy on D-Day. He served again during the Korean War. After the war, he returned to serve in the National Guard, retiring in 1973 as a Colonel.

While serving in the army, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, and later got a job in Lompoc, CA with the Lockheed Aircraft Co. designing missiles. After sixteen years, he left the company, and went to work as a hospital administrator in Sacramento, CA.

In the mid-1980's, he and Mary moved to Kanosh, Utah and enjoyed becoming part of the community. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.

Arnold was an active member of the LDS Church. He served as a Bishop, High Priest Group Leader, and Sunday School Teacher.

He is survived by his children: Gary (Carol), Davis, CA; Terry (Norma), Santa Maria, CA; and Janette (Bruce) Brady, Kanosh; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife: Mary.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 12, at 11:00 a.m., at the Kanosh LDS Chapel, 25 S. Main. A Viewing will be held Saturday morning, 9:30-10:40 a.m., prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be in the Kanosh Cemetery.
