Sgt. Brett William Nielson, age 50, tragically passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016, near Kanarraville, Utah. He was born April 21, 1966 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Eric Wayne and Linda Jo Lowther Nielson. He grew up in Wendover. His family moved to Delta, Utah in 1978, where he graduated from Delta High School. He married his sweetheart, Angela Kaye Harris, on November 11, 1989 in Salt Lake City.

He joined the US Marine Corps, and honorably served during the Persian Gulf War. After returning, he worked in security for the Utah Dept. of Public Safety. In 1992, he joined the Millard County Sheriff’s Office. He was dedicated to his job as a member of law enforcement. He took pride in his work and serving his community, and we will miss his friendly manner in helping people.

Brett loved riding motorcycles, shooting, and spending time with his grandkids. He also loved the art of bartering, being known to make trade after trade of things he didn’t want to finally make the trade for the item he did.

Brett is survived by his wife: Angie; son: Chris Wardle; daughter: RyLee Nielson; grandchildren: Keaton, Kiera, and Aria; parents: Eric and Linda Nielson; brother: Clint Nielson; sisters: Beth Poulsen and Candice Peterson.

Our family deeply appreciates the support and caring of the community and the Millard County Sheriff’s Office. Thank you for all you have done to honor Brett.

A Memorial Service will be held on the year's anniversary of his passing, Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Millard County Fair Building, 187 Manzanita Ave. Burial will follow in Delta City Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.nicklemortuary.com
