William Don Dutson

William Don Dutson was born at his home in Oak City on September 23, 1941, to Willis Eddy and Thelma Wixom Dutson. He passed away from cancer in his Oak City home on November 17, 2016 at age 75. He attended Elementary School in Oak City, Jr. High in Delta and graduated from Delta High School in 1959. He attended Snow College, then served an LDS Mission in London, England. After returning home, he married Kae Finlinson on September 14, 1963 in the Manti LDS Temple. He graduated from the College of Southern Utah in 1966.

William began his teaching career in Wendover, Utah where he taught 6th grade for one year. He then moved back to Oak City, and taught at the Delta Middle School: 6th grade for one year, then 5th grade until his health forced him to retire after 29 years.
 
William was a faithful member of the LDS Church and held many positions, including: Bishop, High Councilor, Stake Young Men’s Presidency, Seventy, Stake Young Adult Advisor, Choir Director for over 43 years and many other callings. He served on the Oak City Town Council for two terms. He served as President of MEA, President of SUEA, NEA Delegate 3 times, and was State Runner-up for Teacher of the Year. He and Kae also served together at Cove Fort.

William is survived by his wife: Kae, Oak City; children: Gary and Ginger, both of Springville; and Craig (Karla), Oak City; 5 grandchildren and  great-grandchildren; siblings: Dixie (Richard) Roberts, Cokeville, WY; Quayle (Shari), Alpine; Lambert (Anna) Oak City. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Diane Dutson; and sister: MayVon Dutson. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 21, at 11:00 a.m., at the Oak City LDS Chapel, 35 East Center St. Viewings will be held at the Oak City LDS Church on Sunday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.; and Monday, 9:30--10:40 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will be in the Oak City Cemetery.
