JoAnn Peterson Wright

JoAnnWright2.webOur beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, JoAnn Peterson Wright, age 72, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2017 in Murray, Utah. JoAnn was born on March 9, 1944,  in Lehi, the oldest of three children born to Odis Joseph and Betty Lou Jensen Peterson of Orem, Utah. JoAnn married the love of her life, Wally Ray Wright, on November 24, 1965 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

JoAnn possessed a strong will and resilient spirit as evidenced by her successful recovery from several bouts of rheumatic fever as a child and struggling through a difficult delivery of her youngest son (a story she shared with him on every birthday). JoAnn graduated from Hollywood Beauty College and moved to Delta, Utah in 1963 to work as a beautician. During this time, she met her sweetheart, Wally, at a church activity. After moving several times while Wally attended college, they built a home and settled in Delta. JoAnn chose the profession of homemaker and spent her time caring for her husband and children. JoAnn was at her best when surrounded by family and enjoying activities with them such as camping and holiday gatherings. JoAnn was active throughout her life and particularly enjoyed clogging competitively with her group from Delta. JoAnn loved attending athletic events and following her youngest son on many adventures watching him play football at Weber State. JoAnn also fondly remembered several trips to Southern California with her family where she enjoyed Disneyland and even an Anaheim Angels baseball game. She will be remembered by all  for her unwavering dedication to her family and her warm and giving nature.

JoAnn is survived by her children: Gina (Phil) Diaz, Toni (Joe) Hardy, Ray Wright, Carl (Jayme) Wright; sister: Jenna (Roger) Bagley; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Gary Joseph Peterson, and husband.

A visitation will be held at the Nickle Mortuary, 190 South Center St, Delta, on Saturday, February 18, at 12:30pm. Funeral service will be at 2:00pm, immediately following the visitation. Interment will be in the Delta City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all of those who reached out to us to share thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We would also like to thank the staff at the Intermountain Medical Center for taking such great care of our mom.
