Roger Gary Bunker

Roger Gary Bunker, age 44, passed away at his home in Murray, Utah on Monday, October 2, 2017 due to severe pneumonia. He was born in Delta, Utah on October 13, 1972, the eldest child of Gary Lyle and Marian Jacobson Bunker. He grew up in Delta learning to work hard by helping his father on the family farm. He graduated from Delta High School in 1990. He served in the Texas-Ft. Worth Spanish speaking LDS Church Mission. He then earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting from Utah State University.

He was first hired as an auditor for Deloitte followed by position as a Controller and Senior Vice President with Select Portfolio Servicing, Inc. and has currently been a controller for Command 7, LLC. Roger was a dedicated professional of Finance and Accounting. He was very detail oriented and organized, and loved figuring out problems. One of his best skills was the ability to break down large problems into manageable small pieces while still keeping sight of the big picture. When given a task he was able to quickly find problems that had been long overlooked. His constant credo was “Get Things Done!”

Roger met Gladys Sonia Fabian while she was living in New Jersey and he in Utah. They fell in love and were married on December 29, 2005 in Murray, Utah. The marriage was solemnized on May 17, 2008 in the Timpanogos LDS Temple. They had three children and Roger was a wonderful and loving father. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.  His children will miss their special Saturday treat time. He loved the outdoors and camping, enjoyed woodworking, racquetball, astronomy, and hard rock, and metal music while enjoying his Mt. Dew. He was known as the King of Halloween as his vast array of yard and home decorations was enjoyed by many.  Roger will be remembered for his humble nature and Big Heart. He loved his family and was always generous sharing his time and knowledge with friends, neighbors and those in need.

Roger is survived by his wife: Gladys Sonia; children: James Fabian (10), Krystal Madison (8), and Katherine Elisabeth (6); parents: Gary and Marian Bunker; siblings: Michael (Tiffany) Bunker; Robert (Tammy) Bunker; Richard (Dani) Bunker; Rebecca (Jared) Weatherly; Matthew (Brittany) Bunker; Melissa Bunker; Brandon (Natalie) Bunker; Jared Paul Bunker; grandparents: Lyle and Lorna Bunker; many nieces and nephews; dogs: Sophie & Browny. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: J. Fay & Melba W. Jacobson.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 7, at 11:00 AM, at the Murray 29th Ward, 700 W 6300 S, Murray. Viewings at the church on Friday, 6:00-8:00 pm; and Saturday, 9:30-10:40 am, prior to the service. Interment at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E 4580 S, Millcreek.

In lieu of flowers a donation account has been set up at Zions Bank under Roger Bunker Donation for the benefit of his children.
