She grew up in Sandy. Later moved to Delta, Utah and graduated from Delta High School, then attended BYU. She married the love of her life, Neal Swensen on May 6, 1955 in the Manti LDS Temple. They first made their home in Hinckley, Utah, then moved to Cresent in the early 1960's. Together they worked side by side on many projects. Carma was very talented, making homemade quilts that were presented to every grandchild at birth. From pillowcases handed down three generations, she made pillow case dresses. She won blue ribbons at the local fair for her handmade quilts. She loved to camp, ride ATV’s, campfires, gardening, journaling, card embroidery and dancing.

In Cresent and Delta areas, she organized classes for the Special Olympics through the church’s Mutual program. She worked as the Secretary at Cresent Elementary, and for the Jordan District, and she also worked as a real estate agent.

She served three times as Relief Society President, Young Women’s President, Primary, and worked at the South Jordan LDS Temple. Served a mission with Neal at Cove Fort, and also worked in LDS Custodial program to support their sons on missions. Neal and Carma also worked as Sextons at the Deseret and Hinckley Cemeteries.
