DwightAlldredge2.webDwight Craig Alldredge, age 73, passed away on December 4, 2017 in the Bennion Veterans Home in Payson, Utah, where he was surrounded by many that loved and served him. Dwight was born in Delta, Utah on January 18, 1944 to Adrian Lavelle Alldredge and Twila Steele Alldredge. Born into a home with 9 children, his life was full of hard work, mischief, and adventure. In his youth he was often found swimming, hunting , fishing, and he was known to be a quick wit and an engaging storyteller.

He attended Delta High School where he played football and wrestled as team captain, threw the discus in track, and love to high dive. He served an LDS Mission in Brazil. Upon his return he was drafted into the Army; during which he became engaged to his eternal companion, Claire Marie Spencer. They were married in the Manti LDS Temple on September 29, 1966.

He was later deployed to Vietnam for 15 months where he was privileged to serve under General Westmoreland as a Sergeant Spec. 5 officer. Following the Army, he attended BYU, Weber State, and then graduated from SUU with a B.S. Degree in Carpentry. He went on to teach woodworking for 32 years in conjunction with owning and operation U-Bake-It Pizza and Video store together with his brother and nephew.

Dwight was a faithful member of the LDS church, serving as a Bishop, a member of the High Council, an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple, as well as many other callings.

A year ago, due to the many health challenges caused by Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam, he came to live in the Bennion Veterans Home where he filled the hearts of all he came across with his love, laughter, and wit.

Dwight is survived by his loving wife: Claire Marie Alldredge of Salem, UT; and their children: Sherrie (Bill) Carpenter of Springtown, TX; Kirt (Linda) Alldredge of Payson, UT; Alicia (Gordon) Mills of West Jordan, UT; Valerie (Robert) Nankervis of Keller, TX; and Jay (Tiffany) Alldredge of Draper, UT; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; siblings: Patricia (Gordon) Hickman of Payson, UT; Lindsay Steele of Delta, UT; and Dennis (Lavinia) Alldredge of Henderson, NV. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Leif, Roger, Cona, Que, and Clifton.
