Vera Hunsaker Giles, age 94, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at her home in Delta, Utah. She was born on September 3, 1923 in Malad, Idaho, the 3rd of 9 children born to Francis and Emma Camp Hunsaker. When she was 3, her family moved from Pleasant View, Idaho to Delta. When Vera was 14, she moved to McGill, Nevada and worked for Dolly Giles Cobb. While there, she met Joseph Clayton Giles. They were married on October 1, 1940 in McGill, NV. They had four children together: Carolyn, Marilyn, Roger, and Dorothy.
They moved back to Delta and Clayton had a welding shop, gun shop. In 1964, they bought the Willden Motel and owned it for 29 years. Clayton died on May 22, 1980. Many years later she met Joe George and they became best friends. They traveled many places together and enjoyed a love of old cars.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband: J.C. Giles; brothers: Robert Hunsaker, Leland Hunsaker, Howard Hunsaker; grandson: Todd Willden; and great-granddaughter: McKenzie Willden. She is survived by her sisters: Faye Steele, Ronilla Cook, Renee Parry, and her brothers: Dick Hunsaker, Leon Hunsaker; her children: Carolyn Randolph, Marilyn Mitchell, Roger Giles, Dorothy Anderson; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A viewing and Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, January 13, at 11:00 am, at the Nickle Mortuary Chapel, 190 South Center St, Delta. Burial will be in the Delta City Cemetery.
