Jerri Kay Mitchell peacefully passed away at the age of 58 in her Delta home on Thursday, May 24, 2018. She was born to Roxanna G. and Vernon K. Mitchell in Delta, Utah on June 18, 1959. Jerri was the second oldest of six children. The family traveled all around for father Vernon Mitchell’s horse races as he was a jockey. The family originally settled in West Jordan, UT and later moved to Magna, UT when the children started school. She graduated from Cyprus High School. Later Jerri moved to Fillmore, UT where she took interest in taking care of her grandmother and became a skilled CNA serving Delta and Fillmore. Jerri was very talented in crochet, rock collecting, and wood carpentry. She enjoyed playing softball and bowling. She was very sweet and friendly, and made friends with everybody she encountered. She gave her love and friendship freely with a warm smile and a big hug.
Jerri is survived by her children: Roxanna (Neal) Mooi, Melanie (Mark) King, Shawna James, Jody Strickling and Lindsey Strickling; her 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; mother: Roxanna Mitchell; brothers and sisters: Tawnya Mitchell, Roy (Amy) Mitchell, Calvin (Lorna) Mitchell, Janet (Dave) Charlton. Jerri is preceded in death by grandparents: William Henry and Elva Goulter; Melvin and Francis Mitchell; her father: Vernon K. Mitchell; brother: Mark Mitchell; niece: Brandy Jean Bruce; and her favorite great uncle: Sherman Tolbert.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29, at 12:00 Noon, at the 4th Ward LDS church, 197 S 300 W, Delta. A Viewing will be held 11:00-11:40 am, prior to the service.
