Emma Jean Black Echenique

Emma Jean Black Echenique, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at her home in Hinckley, Utah. She was born on August 22, 1937 in Alsatia, Louisiana to Percy Lee Black and Freddie Morehead Black. Emma Jean grew up in Louisiana and Southern California. She spent her life taking care of the people around her; as a wife, mother, and jobs as a waitress, house cleaner and taking care of the elderly. She had two children she dearly loved, Robin and Michael. She married her sweet husband, José Echenique, on October 9, 1972 in Holbrooke, Arizona. They made their home in Chandler, Arizona, until they bought a home in Hinckley, Utah in 2005, in order to be closer to her daughter, Robin.

Emma Jean was always fun to be around. She was a voracious reader and loved to learn and share new things. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, she had a quick wit and was a great storyteller. She brought plenty of laughter with her wherever she went. She will be deeply missed.

Emma Jean is survived by her husband: José Echenique; daughter: Robin C. (Carl) Thatcher; and son: Michael G. Jones; 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
