Darleene Tischner Bogue VanZyl

Darleene Tischner Bogue VanZyl, age 85, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 in Delta, Utah. She was born on November 11, 1932 in Santaquin, Utah, the fifth of the eight children of Elorum Michael and Amanda Ruth Beckstead Tischner. She spent her early years growing up in Santaquin. At 14, her family moved to Salt Lake City, where she attended South High School. At 19, Darleene became a young mother to twin little girls, Charmane and Lorraine; and later another sweet girl, Ruth Marie. Darleene married Edmond Bogue in 1959. They made their home in Kearns, Utah. Together they added a son, Kevin, to the family. They later divorced.

Darleene raised her children as single mother. She was a great cook, and especially enjoyed making her home  a festive place full of food and decorations during Christmas. She married William “Bill” Junior VanZyl on August 23, 1971. They enjoyed their time together camping, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He died May 14, 2001. Darleene had not been able to finish high school in her youth, but with her determined spirit, later in life she returned to school and graduated in 1985. In 1987, she started working as a data entry clerk at the Utah State Office of Vital Records. She worked there until she retired in 1997. She later moved to Delta where she enjoyed the many  friendships of her neighbors at the Delta Sands. Darleene enjoyed crocheting and keeping her yard and garden beautiful. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids.

Darleene is survived by her daughters: Lorraine V. (Tom) Scott, Riverton; Ruth (John) Akkerman, Hurricane; son: Kevin (Julie) Bogue, Delta; 20 grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren; sister: Lola; brothers: Delaun, Glade, Dale, and Paul. She was preceded in death by her husband: Bill VanZyl; daughter: Charmane (Tom) Dixon; granddaughter: Heidi Bogue; sisters: Naoma and Laveen.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 13, 10:00 am, at the Camp Williams Veterans Cemetery, 17111 S. Camp Williams Rd, Bluffdale. Brunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, her family encourages donations to Veteran’s Affairs.

God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So he put His arms around you and whispered "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched you as you slowly slipped away, and though we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A ‘Heart of Gold’ stopped beating, hard-working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He took back one of His BEST!
