Alta Edna Dow Ludwig

Alta Edna Dow Ludwig, age 92, died January 13, 2013, in Delta, Utah. She was born July 28, 1920 in Draper, Utah, to John Lorenzo Dow and Mary Martina Sorensen Dow. She married Martin Otto Ludwig, January 28, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple.

They established their first home in Draper, where the first four children were born.  In 1954 they moved to Oasis where they had two more children and in 1962 moved into Delta.

First and foremost mother was a wife and a homemaker. Throughout her life she was focused on her family and keeping the family together. She was always kind to others and as two of her children once wrote of their mother, “We remember mom’s kindness. When she worked at the Extended Care Wing of the Delta Hospital the people there really liked her because she had time for them and always thought of others before herself. She was an excellent cook and you could never go away hungry.”  She showed her devotion to the L.D.S. faith by fulfilling her callings.

She is survived by her six children: Paul (Sue) of American Fork, UT; Sue Ann (Larry) Glabe of Hickman, Nebraska; Rosemary (Don) Bishop of Delta, UT; Reid  (Jackie) of Delta, UT; Edna (Phil-deceased) Mason of Lake City, Colorado; Karen (Chris) Boyter of Richfield, UT; 21 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her spouse, parents, four brothers, four sisters and a great grandson. She was the final member of her family of nine to return home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 18, at 11 AM,  in the Delta 3rd Ward, 197 South 300 West; a viewing prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:40 am.  A viewing held Thursday evening from 7 to 8 pm will be at the Nickle Mortuary, 190 South Center, Delta.
