LauraHigley2.webLauraHigley3.webOur beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, Laura Marie Neilson Higley, age 81, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018 in Logan, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 28, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Vivian Washington and Gladys Leona Jensen Neilson. Laura being the middle of their three beautiful daughters.

She spent her early years living in Trout Creek with her family and working on the ranch. She commuted to Salt Lake City to attend South High School where she later graduated. After high school she attended the University of Utah studying psychology. Later in life, Laura married Orvie Lewis Higley on April 14, 1973 in the ranch house at Trout Creek. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple. They made their home in Trout Creek. He died January 16, 2011.

Laura loved the desert, her cats, family and her belief in the LDS church. She was well known for her scones, her love & interaction with nature and caring personality. She was always the first one to offer a helping hand and support to anyone that needed it. You would often find her laying in the fields with her beloved cats and cows surrounding her staring up at the sky daydreaming or walking down the lane singing a hymn at the top of her lungs, usually off key. Laura always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone.

She spent her later years of life living in Logan, Utah at the Sunshine Care Center where she had many friends and made a lifetime of memories. She was greatly loved by everyone at the center. We would like to express our sincere thank you to the staff and residents that took such good care of her and made her last years of life so wonderful.

Laura is survived by her wonderful sister: Sarah Adam; her nieces and nephews: Rusty Hoffman, Sheri Adam Grygla, Carrie Lynn Adam (Kelly) Anderson, Christi Adam (Scott) Tufts, Mike (Misti) Adam. Numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Laura loved and was loved by so many.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Orvie, and older sister: Vivian Leona Hoffman.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, December 3, at 11:00 AM in the Bates Cemetery in Gandy, Utah.
