Wardell Stanworth, age 91, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at his home in Magna, Utah. He was born in Delta, Utah on September 7, 1927, to George Washington and Ethel Maxfield Stanworth. He graduated from Delta High School in 1946. He then left to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Navy, and serving as a airplane mechanic. He married his sweetheart, Janet Sanford, on April 2, 1949 in Hernando, Mississippi, and after leaving the Navy, they returned to the farm in Oasis, Utah. But soon he moved to Magna, Utah where he worked for Hercules and Kennecott Copper Corp. and raised his family of six wonderful daughters. He loved fishing, woodworking, camping and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and his big heart, lending a helping hand to anyone in need.
Ward is survived by his wife: Janet; daughters: Ellen (Bob) Tracy, Peggy (Dennis) Johnson, Carolyn (Lyn) Williams, Judy (Steve) Schwartz, Connie Christensen, and Joan (Marc) Caldwell; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers: Lyle, Max and Mike Stanworth. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Conard and Pat Stanworth; sister: Joyce McDermaid.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, December 8, at 12:00 noon at the Oasis Cemetery. A Viewing for family and friends will begin at 11:00 am, at the Nickle Mortuary, 190 S Center St, Delta; before traveling to the cemetery.
