Veniece LaVonne Vent Lovell

Veniece LaVonne Vent Lovell, age 79, passed away on the sunny morning of Thursday, December 20, 2018. Vee was born on May 30, 1939 in Trinidad, Colorado to George Wilfred and Frances Olga Albertson Vent. She lived her early life in Santa Barbara, California. She was 18 when she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in which she remained active all the rest of her life serving in various positions.

She moved to Provo to attend BYU and there she met and married the love of her life, Bruce R Lovell, on November 11, 1961, in the Manti LDS Temple. Gaining also an instant family of Bruce’s four children. She loved him so very much and lost him nearly five years ago. Her life has been lonely and difficult without him. Not a day went by that she did not miss her “Honey” and we rest assured that her reunion with him in heaven is joyful and long awaited for.

Veniece worked for AT&T, as a secretary and accountant for many years. Also accounting at IPSC. In her golden years, she happily served two missions with Bruce in the Argentina Bahia Blanca Mission, (1993-1995 and 1997-1999). Upon returning home, she was able to fulfill a long time goal of earning a college degree. She began attending Brigham Young University in 2003. She worked hard, and she and Bruce both sacrificed a lot to help her achieve her goal. She graduated in 2007 with a degree in Family History and with a minor in English as a Second Language. She was an inspiration to all of her progeny in her dedication and service in the genealogical field.  She has accomplished so much in bringing the Spirit of Elijah and doing missionary work on the other side. She always had names for us to take to the temple. After Bruce’s death and as long as her health would allow, Vee was able to continue serving others in this field in the Family History Center in Delta.

Vee loved to travel and experience new things. She was blessed to take numerous family history trips for research on her family lines. She read and watched a wide variety of genres and was always current on events in the world, including politics and college football- she was an avid fan of BYU football.  Her  BYU flag will be missed on Main Street of Oak City on game day, as well as her traditional homemade popcorn balls that she made every Halloween.

She is survived by her brother: Dean (Linda) Vent of Santa Barbara, California; her children: Debra (Juan) Lopez, Leslie (Lynette) Lovell and William (Julie) Lovell, 12 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents: George and Frances Vent; her sister: Verna (Bill) Byron; brother: David; her daughter: Karen Lovell Finlinson; and her beloved husband, Bruce.

The family appreciates all of those who gave service to Vee, for the visitors and the kindness shown to her, especially the last few months at Millard County Care and Rehab in Delta.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29, at 11:00 am, at the Oak City LDS Chapel, 35 E Center St. Viewings will be held at the Oak City LDS Church on Friday night, 6-8 pm; and Saturday, 9:30-10:40 am, prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Oak City Cemetery.
