Darlene Fullmer Bliss

DarleneBliss2.webEnduring with faith and love to the end, our sweet Darlene Fullmer Bliss passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at her home in Delta, UT surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 8, 1939 in Delta UT, the youngest of 5 children to Joseph Smith Fullmer and Julia Mae Peterson Fullmer. She attended Delta High school where she was a cheerleader, and part of a singing group called the Semenetts. After graduating from high school in 1957, Mom attended one semester at BYU. She then married Roger Hardy Bliss in the Manti LDS Temple on November 15, 1958, throughout her life they lived in Norwalk, CA and Delta, UT and together they raised three children: Deborah, Reggie, and Oren.

Darlene worked for 25 years at the Contel Telephone company alongside her husband and enjoyed working with many wonderful people and friends. She was known for her love of taking care of people and always wanted to be baking and doting on everyone. When her mother was diagnosed with cancer, she put aside her schooling and plans and was called home to help minister and take care of her mother until she passed in 1963.

Mom was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved the gospel and to serve. She magnified all of her callings, some of which include: Primary teacher, Relief Society President, Gospel Principles Teacher, and Ward Missionary. In 2000, Mom and Dad served a one year proselyting LDS mission in Omaha, Nebraska Mission where she met and made many lifelong friends and became a true Husker fan for life.

Grandma “Nene” had many loves and passions which included, her family, the Utah Jazz, Softball, hunting, camping, and cheering on her grandkids in all of their sports and activities.

She is survived by her husband: Roger; children: Deborah (Jim) Davis; Reggie (Stephannie) Bliss; Oren (Wendy) Bliss; 13 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents: Joseph and Julia Fullmer; step-mother: Bertha Tucker; siblings: one sister and three brothers.

The family expresses thanks to “At Home Hospice”, Kristin, McKell & Peyton for their tender loving care of our mother. Special thanks to Pam, Julie, and Kinsey for their detailed and unending attention and love during this difficult time, mom loved you more than you will know.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 11:00 am, at the Delta LDS Stake Center Chapel, 125 S White Sage Ave. Viewings will be held Friday, 6-8 pm, at the Nickle Mortuary, 190 S Center St, Delta; and Saturday, 9:30-10:40 am, prior to the service.
