Elaine Sheriff Olson

Elaine Sheriff Olson, age 92, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019 in Delta, Utah. She was born on November 14, 1926 in Oak City, Utah the oldest child of 5 born to Wilford Ivan and Bessie Lovell Sheriff. She grew up in Oak City and graduated from Delta High School.

She married Wilburn Olson on March 20, 1953 in the Manti LDS Temple. They began their family in Oak City where their two children, Kendall and Kathy, came into their lives. In the late 50's, they moved to Sunset, Utah where Elaine worked as a secretary for the Doxey Elementary School. While there she made many wonderful friends. After a few years they moved back to Oak City to help out on the family farm. Elaine worked as a secretary for local businesses including Oak City Town and the Power Company. Wilburn passed away on March 21, 2014.

Elaine was talented at the piano and loved to play. She also enjoyed crochet, but above all she loved her family. Her home was a nurturing and often used gathering place for her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and tutor, teaching all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to read before kindergarten. She also helped tutor many other children around Oak City to read. Elaine was a member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings.

Elaine is survived by her son: Kendall (Narcy) Olson, Oasis; brother: Scott (Bonnie) Sheriff, Oak City; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; son-in-law: Stewart (Tammy) Rowley. She was preceded in death by her husband: Wilburn Olson; daughter: Kathy Olson Rowley; 2 grandchildren; a brother and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 29, at 11:00 am, at the Oak City LDS Chapel, 35 East Center Street. A Viewing will be held Monday, 9:30-10:40 am, prior to the service. Burial will be in the Oak City Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.nicklemortuary.com
