Linda Lee Millar Peterson Phillips

Linda Lee Millar Peterson Phillips, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 in Delta, Utah. She was born on September 17, 1951 in American Fork, Utah to Clarence G and Katherine Onealia Scott Millar. She grew up in Lindon and said she was raised by the love of her life, her horse, Trooper. She participated in riding clubs, barrel racing (winning a buckle), and loved riding her horse in parades.

She graduated from Pleasant High School in 1969. The careers that followed were varied. She first worked as a seamstress. In the early 80's she moved to Oak City and helped build the Power Plant as a construction worker. When the construction project ended she moved back to Lindon and ran three restaurants in Utah County. She married Kenneth R. Phillips on April 29, 1995 in Laughlin, Nevada. In the early 2000's, they moved to Las Vegas and she went to work for the restaurants of the MGM Grand Resort, retiring in 2013 and moving back to Oak City. During these years she also raised her three sons. She was a great cook and a fun and supportive mom. Her greatest joy was the many activities done with her children.

Linda’s was always looking to make the little pieces of life fun. On one occasion her son opened a gift to find a butter brush. In his air of confusion he asked, “Why is there a butter brush?” Being a little hurt, by the absence of his thrill over the little gift, she replied, “I thought you might need one for your trailer!” No Thanks was the retort and the brush was left sitting on the table. However, after her son’s return to Florida and upon unpacking his suitcase, there hidden in the bottom was the butter brush! So every birthday, holiday or event where presents are exchanged that followed, someone has gotten a regifted butter brush hidden among their gifts.

Linda is survived by her husband: Kenneth R. Phillips; children: Brandon (Ernestine), Christopher and Jerrod Peterson; step-children: Chantelle, Jeromy Phillips, Brittany; grandchildren: Alexis, Michael, Kendalynn, Conner, Kierra; 10 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; her mother:  “Neeley” Millar; sisters: Kathy and Mary June; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father: “Hev” Millar and brother: Alex Millar.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3, at 11:30 am, at the Oak City LDS Chapel, 35 East Center Street. A Viewing will be held Saturday, 10:00-11:10 am, prior to the service. Burial will be in the Oak City Cemetery.
