Vicki Lynn Ogden Jackson

Sutherland, UT - Vicki Lynn Ogden Jackson, age 66, lost her battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in the early hours of snowy January 12, 2013. She is remembered by all for her friendship, generosity, wonderfully dry wit, beautiful glowing countenance and killer golf swing. Vicki was born on October 30, 1946 in Milford, Utah to Jack Burton and Gwen LaMae Davis Ogden. She was raised in Milford. She married LeRay G. Jackson on March 18, 1967 in St. George LDS Temple.

An avid gardener and a behind the scenes dictator, she was the iron fist that ruled our humble abode. Using an abundance of discipline and love she raised five children, born within a 7 year span: Jeff (Sherri) Jackson, Jill (Matt) Stanworth, Lynn (Todd) Topham, Ray (Melissa) Jackson, Kris (Heidi) Jackson. She guided us through our growing years, making our goals HER goals. She gave advice and never once said “I told you so” when said advice was not heeded. Our courageous hero, we will forever remain in her debt.

She believed in hands on parenting and used that same ideal in her favorite pastime, grandparenting. Grammy or Nana was always ready to build sandcastles, play tag, push the swing, play board games, read countless books and give endless cuddles to her 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Vicki is survived by her loving and extremely protective husband, lover, golf partner and best friend, LeRay G. Jackson. Every day of their 46 years of marriage, Vicki would tell LeRay, “I love you wider than wide, deeper than deep, forever and ever”. Honey, you are gone but never forgotten. Although we are apart, your spirit lives within my heart forever. I anxiously wait until we meet again.

Vicki was gracious to the very end of her 114 day illness, never a complaint or cross word spoken, always greeting all who entered her hospital room with her beautiful smile. We’d like to thank the staff at LDS Hospital, who made her last days as peaceful and dignified as possible.

Viewings will be held at Nickle Mortuary, 190 S Center St, Delta, on Tuesday, January 15, from 7-8 PM; and Wednesday, January 16, from 10-12. Followed by a family graveside service at the Sutherland Cemetery.
