James Clark Cook

James “Jim” Clark Cook, age 55, died on Friday, August 30, 2019 in Delta, Utah. He was born in Delta on September 10, 1963, the third of four children of Kenneth Ray and ClaraBelle Bennett Cook. Jim graduated from Delta High School where he excelled in football and wrestling, and instilled a lifelong love of sports. He first worked as a farmhand, but later turned his attention to construction. He worked with Dude and Jerry Bennett laying concrete, and later operated his own siding company. Later he spent many years working with Dan Harris Construction.

Jim married Shelly Kay Taylor on July 15, 1989 in Delta. They spent almost 30 years together, but later divorced. They raised 6 children. Family was the highlight of his life. He loved to play the guitar and sing to his kids. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys, and teaching his girls to care for the horses. His yard became a petting zoo where the kids learned to raise many different animals. He enjoyed John Wayne movies and other westerns, bow hunting with his brothers. Every year he would soak the whole yard and send his kids digging in the mud in the Summer Earthworm Catch. He created many memories that his family recalls fondly. He will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by his children: Justin (Colette) Petersen, Sheremy Petersen, Jennifer (Cody) Jensen, Shantel (Jason) Borwegen, Kelsey (Kyle) Jones, Kesler (Dani) Cook; 18 grandchildren; mother: ClaraBelle Cook; brother: Russ (Susan) Cook; sister: Jodi (Doug) Nielson. He is preceded in death by his father: Ray Cook; brother: Doug Cook; granddaughter: Taylee King.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 5, at 11:00 am, at the Nickle Mortuary. A Viewing will be held on Thursday morning, 9:00-10:40 am, prior to the service. Burial will be at the Delta City Cemetery.
