Lyle Welton Stanworth was born on July 15, 1929, in Delta, Utah. He peacefully passed away in Nephi, Utah, on Sunday, August 9, 2020, at the age of 91 years. Lyle was the third of seven children born to Ethel Maxfield and George Washington Stanworth.  He was raised on the family farm in Oasis, Utah, and attended schools in Delta, Utah. After leaving the family home, he became employed on a neighboring farm, worked at Kelly Service Station, and often helped close neighbors drive cattle to Clear Lake and Cherry Creek, Utah.  He was always comfortable in the saddle and enjoyed horses, cattle and the cowboy way of life.

Lyle has many times said that meeting his loving wife, Anna Lou Dewsnup, was the best day of his life.  They were married on his birthday in 1953 in her Deseret, Utah, family home and been partners for 66 years until her passing on December 17, 2019. They are the parents of Cindy Lou Butler and Lyle Scott Stanworth.

He loved to hunt deer and coyotes and was eventually offered a job with the US Fish & Game and moved to Pioche, Nevada. This was Lyle’s dream job: he hunted and trapped coyotes, bobcats and cougars in Lincoln County that were predators to the sheep herds in the area. After 5 years in Pioche, Lyle and Anna Lou decided it was time to return to Deseret to help her father, J. H. Dewsnup, with his farm and cattle.  It was a tough decision for both of them since they loved the people and area of Pioche.

Lyle soon became engrossed in making improvements on the farm, purchasing more farms and eventually purchased his father-in-law’s farm and cattle operation. He was always a very ambitious individual. He never did a job half way and rarely quit working until the sun was down. His farm soon became a showplace and his cattle were some of the best Polled Herefords around. As a tribute to his industrious stewardship he was awarded the Millard County Farmer of the Year.

Lyle was a member of the Hinckley Lions Club and spent many years chairing the calf riding event for the Hinckley Town Rodeo. He was also a board member of the Deseret Irrigation Company.

Lyle is survived by his children: Cindy and Scott; brothers: Max and Mike Stanworth; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife: Anna Lou; mother and father: Ethel and George Stanworth; his brothers: Conard, Ward and Pat Stanworth: his sister: Joyce McDermaid; and great-granddaughter: Oakley Paige Chivers.

Graveside Services will be held on on Wednesday, August 12, at 11:00 am, at the Deseret Cemetery.
