June Memmott Shurtz Losee, age 93, passed from the arms of her loving family into her heavenly home on January 22, 2021. June was born in Oasis, Utah on June 11, 1927. She was the third of ten children born to Eugene and Lillie Jensen Memmott. She and her family moved to Scipio where she spent her childhood years. June enjoyed holidays, dancing, singing, foot races, playing with friends and family, and learning to work. She attended school in Scipio and Fillmore.

Her family moved to Sugarville, when she was 14 years old. Her cheerful and outgoing personality helped her make friends easily as she attended Delta High School. June moved to Manti to live with her sister, Alice, during her senior year. She helped support the World War II efforts by sewing parachutes in the mornings before school. Shortly after the war ended, she graduated from Manti High School.

June was sealed to Lane Shurtz on June 20, 1946, in the Manti Temple. She and Lane had two children, Roger and Beverly, before Lane was killed in a tragic farming accident on January 6, 1951, leaving her a young widow. June found love again and married Eugene Losee, in the St. George Temple, on July 1, 1952. He had one daughter, Barbara. The newly-united family went on to welcome five additional children into their home: David, Steven, Sheila, Marsha, and Cindy. They raised their eight children on their 200 acre farm in Sugarville. They were married for 59 years before Eugene passed away on April 2, 2012.

June was especially gifted at welcoming, serving, and loving those around her unconditionally. The home she created was a place of peace and joy. Some of her hobbies were gardening, working alongside her family, taking pictures, reading, writing and memorizing poetry, and collecting recipes–she was famous for her banana bread.

June had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ, her Savior. She enjoyed being able to share her testimony and love of the gospel of Jesus Christ with others. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, June served faithfully wherever needed. Some of her callings were Primary president, Primary chorister, Relief Society president (twice), and Laurel adviser. She and Eugene also worked in the Manti Temple and the Delta Genealogy Library.

June was young at heart and loved life. She and Eugene enjoyed dancing, being in the outdoors, camping, hiking, and traveling with family and friends to exciting destinations.

In addition to working the farm, she was a teacher’s aide at two local schools, and a store clerk; but her greatest joy was that of being a wife, mother, and grandmother. June and Eugene were so proud of their children and supported them in their various activities throughout their lives. They were honored to receive an award for being the most-supportive parents at Delta High School–a testament of their continual love and encouragement.

June is survived by her children: Roger (Lynné) Shurtz, Barbara (Floyd) Hastings, Beverly (Bob) Allred, Steven (Jann) Losee, Sheila (Tony) Howell, Marsha (Vance) Lovell, Cindy (Justin) Peatross, and a foster daughter: Kathy Brown; sister: Inga Mae Shurtz; brother: Melvin (Nancy) Memmott; 49 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren (with 2 more on the way), and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Lane Shurtz and Eugene Losee; her son: David Losee; grandson: Von Allred; great-grandson: Owen Cragun; her parents: Eugene and Lillie Memmott; sisters: Alice Adams, Veola Hansen, and Glenda Black; and brothers: Harold Eugene Memmott, Berdell Memmott, Grant Memmott, and Devon Memmott.

June has been a resident at Millard Care & Rehabilitation for the past three and a half years. We, her family, want to thank them for the kindness and loving care they have shown to her and to our family while she was in their care.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance at the services is restricted to family. Friends and family are invited to watch the Funeral Service at: https://youtu.be/qLjkITTbB8o. Interment will be at the Delta City Cemetery.
