Arnola Bennett Fullmer

Arnola Bennett Fullmer, age 92, passed through the veil peacefully on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at her home in Fillmore, Utah. She was born on March 18, 1928 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Carl Winter and Adelaide Bagshaw Bennett. Most of her childhood years were spent in Delta. While there she met Don William Fullmer from Abraham. She hitched her star to his and they were married on May 23, 1945 in Hinckley. They have had a rewarding and adventurous life together for almost 76 years.

To describe Nola one would have to include the words:  Unselfish, loyal, spiritual, patient, hardworking, wise, and easy to get along with. Though she was more of a listener than a talker, she had well-thought-out and definite opinions on most subjects. She resisted expressing any negative thoughts, and to the end she expressed her gratitude for everything she had been given. She was a 26-year cancer survivor and when asked about her many challenges she would most often respond: “It could be worse.”

She and Don lived in Tooele and Sunset for many years. While raising her family, she applied herself to improving her education and steadfastly worked to receive her GED. She then worked for the government in various positions and helped with the church scouting program. When they decided to start their own business, she retired from the government and began keeping all the financial records by hand. A memorable image is her basement office and the large ledger filled with thousands of handwritten entries and columns.

When the chance came to move back to Millard County, they both jumped at it. Their hearts really never left this part of Utah. Mom would always remind us that her mother used to roll down the windows and breathe the air whenever they crossed back into the county and she felt the same way.

In Fillmore, she was an integral part of their entrepreneurial adventures. If dad desired to do something, she almost always accommodated him. She had a hand in every aspect of the business, the office, restaurant, purchasing more motels and land, and the cows, horses and farms. Her posterity is carrying on the hard work of maintaining the businesses here in Fillmore.

She loved being outside and cared for her home and spent many hours beautifying her yard. Even in her declining years she could outwork her kids when they came to help. Even when suffering the effects of cancer, she kept her spirit and determination to see each day as a gift. Our family sends special thanks to every hospice person who so lovingly made it possible to keep mom at home till the end.

Arnola will be deeply missed by her family left behind: her husband, Don; children: Linda (Doug) Wangsgard, Carole (Kerry) Jones, Mark (Marge) Fullmer; her 14 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter: Debra Dawn Fullmer.

The Funeral Service attended by her family will be held on Monday, March 8, at 11:00 am, at the Fillmore LDS Stake Center. Friends are invited to view the streaming video of the Funeral Service at: https://youtu.be/D9zB-gTeSu4. The link will also be posted on her obituary page at www.nicklemortuary.com. Burial will be in the Fillmore City Cemetery.
