Farilyn Forbush Edwards

Farilyn Forbush Edwards, age 95, a longtime resident of Delta, returned home on March 31, 2021, after living a valiant life. She passed away in Lehi, Utah surrounded by her family. She was born April 21, 1925, in Richfield, Utah, to Neldon Vance and Leah Miller Forbush. Farilyn was the eldest of 9 children and spent her early childhood in Monroe, Utah as a second mom to her brothers and sisters. Her family later moved to Richfield, where she met Ezra Lowell Edwards, a U.S. Navy sailor. After a whirlwind courtship of just five days, they traveled to Reno, Nevada, by train, where they were married on March 20, 1944, during the height of World War II. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti, Utah temple. The couple spent their honeymoon years in San Francisco, where Lowell was stationed. They later moved to the Delta area, where they owned a 180-acre farm and raised their four children.

Farilyn was beloved for her gracious personality, making new friends wherever she went. She had a strong work ethic and used it to serve everyone around her. She was an amazing, self-taught seamstress whose skills were first cultivated by hand stitching a christening outfit for her first infant son. Over the next 60 years, she wore out several sewing machines tailoring clothing for family and friends alike. Farilyn worked many years as a clerk at the Marion and Dean grocery store, Del-mart department store, and Enjoy Wear clothing store. In the early 1980s, she became a business co-owner when she purchased Enjoy Wear and changed the name to the Briar Patch. She loved bowling and participated in a women's bowling league. She also loved serving her community as a 4-H leader, a member of the American Legion, a volunteer for the Heart Fund, and a Pink Lady at the Delta Hospital. Farilyn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, where she held many callings.

Farilyn was the mother of Wayne Lowell (Jean) Edwards of Lehi, Utah; Kathryn (James) Ross of Cedar City, Utah; Lynette (Scott) Summerill of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and Robert Eugene (Coral Worthen) Edwards of American Fork, Utah. Farilyn has 19 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she was happiest when they were together.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four brothers: Neldon Val (Joy); Ronald D; Eugene (Dorothy); and John Sanford Forbush. She is survived by her four children and four sisters: Nedra Lee (Joseph) Jensen; Myrtle Aleene (Douglas) Hansen; Anna Mae (Neil) Forsyth; and Gayle (Henry) Pollock.

All are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Monday, April 5, at 2:00 pm, at the Nickle Mortuary, 190 S. Center St, Delta. A Viewing will be held 12:30-1:40 pm, before the service. Masks are Required. Friends are also invited to view the recorded video of the funeral service at: https://youtu.be/TWjkWnU0OIw. Interment in the Delta City Cemetery.
