Shane Leslie Brooks

ShaneBrooks2.webShane Leslie Brooks, age 51, passed awayon April 28, 2021 at Diamond D Assisted Living in Delta, Utah. He was born June 11, 1969 in Ogden, Utah to Steven Leslie and Cheryl Grant Brooks. The first six years of his life he spent in Ogden, then his family moved to Salt Lake, then to Delta when he was 10 years old. Most of his school years were spent in Delta and he graduated from Delta High in 1987.

Shane was born with cerebral palsy which limited the capability of the left side of his body. However, Shane did not let it hold him back from experiencing a full life. As a kid, he would ride his bike 12 miles each way, pedaling practically with one leg, to play with his nephew. During a period while his family was living in Mesquite, Nevada, he was encouraged to join the wrestling team. His parents were surprised at the idea at first. However, once Shane was off his feet and on the mat, his natural athletic ability could shine and he won many matches.

After graduation he lived in Florida and Las Vegas. He worked as a successful telemarketer. He also was good at and enjoyed playing poker. He was huge football fan and always cheered on favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. He moved back to Delta 20 years ago. He lived the last nine years at Diamond D Assisted Living. He loved the staff and the staff loved him.

Shane was a jokester. He enjoyed laughing and ribbing his family and friends. He was deeply caring to others. He gave so much of what he had to help out others. He will be deeply missed.

Shane is survived by father: Steve (Teenie) Brooks, Roy; mother and father: Cheryl (Ken) Poulsen, Delta; siblings: Scott (Deb) Brooks, Yakima, Washington; Chris Smith, Comfort, Texas; Leslie Brooks, Roy; Joey (Tiffany) Brooks, Roy; his nephew and special best buddy growing up: Justin (Katie) Poulsen. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, uncles and several friends.

A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, May 2, at 11:00 am, at the Delta City Cemetery. Friends are also invited to view the recorded video of the service at: https://youtu.be/hTnJxNEEYD4
