Richard Gerald Bublitz

Richard Gerald Bublitz, age 83, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 at the Millard County Care Center in Delta, Utah. He was born on March 8, 1938 in Redwood City, California. He was the eldest of four sons born to Daniel and Eathel Hazeltine Bublitz. He grew up in Beach, North Dakota and graduated from Beach High School. Soon after he married Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Kingsley in Baker, Montana.

Richard enlisted in the US Navy. Most of his service was spent on the USS Randolph, an Essex-class aircraft carrier. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Baker, serving as a member of the police force. He and Betty had four children together. They later divorced.

Richard moved his family to Billings, Montana and was working as a car salesman. One day an attractive woman came in to do some car shopping and caught his attention. Fate worked its magic and he continued to run into her as the days went by. Their chance relationship blossomed, and he married Linda Lu James on May 3, 1972 in Rapid City, South Dakota. The spent the next 45 wonderful years together. They also added another daughter to their family.

In 1981 he moved his family to Delta, Utah and began doing maintenance work at the power plant. In 1988 they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he worked as a security guard at the Whiskey Pete’s Casino. He retired in 2011 and he and Linda moved to Hesperia, California; and later back to Delta in 2016 to be close to family.

Richard loved hunting and fishing and working on cars. He was a member of the American Legion and the Rotary Club. He also loved being a grandfather and great-grandfather to his posterity.

Richard is survived by his sons: Tim (Liz) Bublitz, Fort Bridger, Wyoming; Rick (EuDon) Bublitz, Delta, Utah; daughters: Cindy (Mark) Reed, Fayetteville, Arkansas; Teri (Randy) Anderson, Hettinger, North Dakota; Cory (Kris) Koenig, Richfield, Utah; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
