James Albert Ogden

James Albert Ogden, age 66, passed away on June 22, 2021 at his home in Sutherland, Utah. He was born October 28, 1954 in Nephi, Utah, the second of the 4 children of Cleo J and Bonnie Ruth Howard Ogden. James has spent his entire life as a part of the Sutherland community. His joyful spirit and generous smile has blessed so many of the people he encountered during his life’s journey.

James was born with cerebral palsy and was challenged with a mental disability. However, James did not let it hold him back from a life full of experiences and friendships. He attended the schools in the Delta area. When he was 25 he began working for Delta Valley Cheese. It was a very rewarding experience for him. He was a hard worker, and became a fixture of the business. It was not uncommon to see James’ big smile beaming back from behind the counter. He worked at the cheese plant for 22 years until its closing. He was grateful for the many coworkers and friends he made during those years.

James was a faithful member of the LDS Church. He took pride in fulfilling his home teaching assignments, and was dedicated to every calling he was given, whether it was greeting everyone at the door or putting up the numbers for the hymns. Even when it felt difficult to go, he would tell his family, “They’re counting on me!”

James enjoyed collecting model trucks and cars, word searches, puzzles and helping tie quilts. He was always happy, and loved to tell stories and tease others. He had a vivid imagination. He also will be remembered for his exceptional memory. His family members were often surprised by his ability to recite everybody’s phone number on demand. He will be deeply missed.

James is survived by sisters: Connie (Reverl) Jasper, Mona, Utah; Penny Young and Paula (Darren) Mason, both of Delta; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 25, at 11:00 am, at the Sutherland LDS Chapel, 2650 North 3000 West. Viewing will be held on Thursday evening, 7-8 pm, at the Nickle Mortuary, 190 S Center St, Delta; and Friday, 9:30-10:40 am, prior to the service. Friends are invited to the recorded video of the funeral at: https://youtu.be/HdfXfwzlB7M Burial will be in the Delta City Cemetery.
