Tanner Chase Fowles

Tanner Chase Fowles, age 21, of Delta, Utah, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, as a result of a severe infection in his kidneys and lungs. Chase was born on April 9, 2000 to Russ and Holly Byrd Fowles. His older brothers, Hunter and Kaden, were so happy to have a younger brother to join them in their adventures of hunting, fishing, pollywoggin’, 4-wheeling, and wakeboarding in the irrigation canals in Sutherland. His special connection with his younger sister, Sydney, was apparent from the start. They were often seen holding hands and laughing together. People that didn’t know them often mistook them as twins. Chase had an amazing childhood. His mom will never have another “butterfly boy” and his dad a “mini-me.”

Chase’s bright light shone on anyone he came in contact with in his short life. From a young age, he had a special love and connection with all people. During his time at Delta High School, he founded a Service Crew to encourage others to selflessly serve as he did. He excelled in academics, student government, and sports throughout high school. He served in various student offices and as student body president at his beloved DHS. He lettered in basketball and track, but football was the sport that he loved most. As a senior captain, he was selected for First Team All-State and was one of twelve selected to be inducted into the Utah Chapter of the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame. He was Homecoming King, an Eagle Scout, Seminary Graduate, and a member of the National Honor Society.

Soon after High School Graduation, his love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints grew when he served a mission in Quezon City, Philippines. He loved the people and language of his mission, but he was most excited to be sharing the Gospel with all he came in contact with. After returning from his mission, he was able to attend a year of college at Brigham Young University in Provo.

His love for the Savior, Jesus Christ, was apparent to all who knew Chase. He had a gift of making everyone he talked to feel like they were one of his closest friends. Because of this gift, his warm and happy spirit will be remembered and greatly missed by many.

Chase is survived by his parents: Russ and Holly Fowles; brothers: Hunter Fowles and Kaden Fowles; and his sister and brother-in-law: Sydney and Garrett Rasmussen; grandparents: Lana and Scotty McCausland; grandfather: Dirk Fowles. He is preceded in death by his grandfather: Raymond Byrd; and his grandmother: Karen Fowles.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 22, at 11:00 am, at the Delta West Stake Center, 188 North Main St, Hinckley. Viewings will be held at the Hinckley Stake Center on Wednesday evening, 6:00-8:00 pm; and Thursday, 9:30-10:40 am, prior to the service. Please bring a 4x6 picture of you and Chase with a memory written on the back to leave for the family.
