Eathel Vida Terry Church

EathelChurch2.webEathel Vida Terry Church, age 88, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021 in Delta, Utah. Eathel was born on November 24, 1932, in Abraham, Utah; the eldest of four children born to Evan Earl and Vida Jane Searle Terry. She grew up in Millard County and after graduating, took a job at the Tooele Army Depot. While there she met the love of her life DeLano “Dee” Church. They were married in Tooele on September 19, 1952, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

They settled down to raise there family in the Salt Lake area. First living in Murray, and later (to make room for the freeway) moving to Kearns. True to her farming roots, Eathel would also raise many chickens and cows to feed her family. She raised 5 beloved children. She was a great mother. She was a wonderful cook. She made her family’s clothes and taught her girls how to sew. She was always supportive and encouraging in all their activities. She had a love of the gospel and served as Primary President when her children were young.

In 1969, her family moved back to Delta. Eathel loved to dance with Dee, and work in her beautiful flower garden. Eathel enjoyed bowling and won many trophies and had many fun trips with her friends. She enjoyed attending car shows with Dee and helping with the local Classy Chassis Car Club. She loved to keep her hands busy with many projects. She crocheted afghans, sewed many clothes, dolls and quilts. She had her own kiln and made beautiful ceramics for the house (plates, cups, canisters, garden decorations). She made her own personalized Birthday Cards and Calendars for all her children and grandchildren.

Eathel will always be remembered for her quiet, constant support, sweet spirit, and always being there to listen. She filled her home with a lot of laughter. She will be deeply missed.

Eathel is survived by her son: Evan (Laura) Church; daughters: Dixie Church Gillen, Vickie Church Manis, and Shirley (Ed) Harris; 15 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband: DeLano “Dee” Church; son: Steve Church; grandson: Dee Manis; siblings: Darwin Terry, Sharla Mae Richins, and Lyla Rae Coy.

A Gathering to Celebrate her Life will be held on Friday, July 23, 9:30-10:40am, at the Nickle Mortuary; followed by short graveside dedication at the Hinckley Cemetery at 11:00am. Online condolences may be left at www.nicklemortuary.com
