Mary Loree Moody Christensen

MaryChristensen2.webMary Loree Moody Christensen, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 22, 1930 in Hinckley, Utah to Bryant M. and LaVerna Wright Moody. When Mary was only 17 years old, her mother passed away, and Mary helped to raise her younger brother John. After graduating from Hinckley High School, Mary attended and graduated from Dixie State College in St. George. She then moved to Salt Lake City where she worked as a secretary for Freed Motor Company.

As a result of a blind date, Mary met the love of her life, Cleo Ladd Christensen. They were married on November 19, 1955 in Sutherland, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. They raised several foster children. Jim and his brother, Jay, continued to stay with them, working on the farm. They were very special to Mary. Between 1960 and 1971, Cleo and Mary were able to adopt their 5 beloved children.

Mary loved dancing, her motorcycles (mo-peds), reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her sons: C. Wade (Kathleen Johnson) Christensen; Brad Christensen; daughters: Cindy Bronson (Judd Klinger); Loralee (Doug) Tolman; foster son: Jim Averett; 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and brother: John (Kaye) Moody. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Cleo; son: Clay; foster son: Jay; brothers: Venor and Dwight; sisters: Myrlene and Carol.
