Mildred MerReta Sproule Lake

Mildred MerReta Sproule Lake (also known as Reta) was born November 8, 1934 in Heber City, Utah. She was 1 of 8 children born to Emmett George and Erma Alberta Mair Sproule. She returned to her Heavenly Father on April 4, 2013 at age 78, when her spirit left her earthly home. Her 3 surviving children were at her side.

She grew up in Park City, Utah and attended Park City High School.  Mildred met the love of her life, Leo Bud Lake in 1952 and they were married in Reno, Nevada on February 28, 1954. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 3, 1961. All 4 of their children were sealed to them at that time: Wanda, Richard, Janice and David. Married life began for the newlyweds in various cities in Northern California. When her husband Leo was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Navy, they moved to Whittier, in Southern California, where they spent the next 40-45 years before moving back to their home state of Utah and the city of Delta. During this time, Mildred spent her life raising her 4 children and staying involved in their education and church activities.

Mildred enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises which included trips to The Caribbean, Panama Canal, Alaska, Florida and London aboard the Queen Mary II.  She also enjoyed camping and watching old western movies… especially John Wayne movies.  Both she and her husband were long time fans of the Duke. During the last few years, Mildred enjoyed living her life between Delta and her 2nd home in Las Vegas, where she could easily meet up with family members living there and in California. She also enjoyed her “other kids” (as she called them) – her dogs. Their names are Buffy, Misty and Ladybug.  The dogs will surely miss their “mom”.

Mildred is survived by her loving family. Her adult children: Wanda (Mitch); Richard (Debbie); Janice (Kelly); and daughter-in-law, Karen. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leo; and her youngest son, David. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Darlene (Rhonie), Erik, Richard, Brian, Robert (Cyndi), McKenzie and Katie; 2 great-grandchildren: Laila and Aiden; and two brothers: Neal and Gary.

For her family, her biggest accomplishment in her life has been her commitment and never ending devotion to her husband and her commitment and love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her now adult children, all know that their mom was very proud of each of them. They too are very proud to call her mom and are forever blessed with the wonderful memories they will always have of her and our family.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday April 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Gunnison Bend LDS Ward in Hinckley, Utah.  Viewings will be held Friday evening at Nickle Mortuary, 7-8 PM; and Saturday morning at the church, 9:30-10:40 AM. Burial will be in the Delta City Cemetery.
