Barney Albert Davis

Barney Albert Davis, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 3, 2022 in Delta, Utah. Barney was born on June 5, 1943 in Payson, Utah to Albert Thompson Davis and Leona Selma Lake Davis. His father was serving his country in WWII during the early months of his life. Shortly before receiving a leave from service to return home and see his baby boy, less than a year old, his father was killed. Barney grew up in Lynndyl. His mother remarried and he eventually became the big brother to 5 sisters. His step father was often away from home, so Barney took on the responsibility to become a support figure for his younger sisters from a very young age. Before he was a teenager, he decided he would teach himself how to raise livestock. He made deals with local farmers and started raising pigs and chickens and cows, and by the time he was 10, he had made a huge difference in the welfare of his family.

Barney graduated from Delta High School and then attended Trade School in Provo as a mechanic. He worked helping local farmers and as laborer and mechanic, and eventually met Pauline Meacham. They married and made their first home in Lynndyl. They loved and raised four children. Later they moved to the South Tract area of Delta and he started working for the Millard County Road Dept. He was a dependable and hard worker until he retired.

Barney loved reading. It was almost impossible to find him without a book in his hands, and he passed along that love to his children. He enjoyed farming. He had a way with animals and loved his dogs. He also loved the hours he was able to spend fishing. But above all, Barney loved his family. There was nothing he would not do to make sure they were happy and taken care of. We will deeply miss him!

Barney is survived by his daughters: Virginia (Scott) Eagle, Deana (Will) Warren, and Flora Davis; grandchildren: Cynthia Scanlon, Christopher Davis, Scott Eagle, Karen Eagle, Cory Eagle, Kayla Emhodah, Crystal Tanner, Alicia Ervin; great-grandchildren: Khori Scott, Katana Scott, Genevieve Scanlon, Drew Abbott Dakota Tanner, Evelynn Tanner, Salem Tanner, Quinn Reeves; the one and only love of his life: Pauline Davis; sisters: Selma Lazaro, Leona Swarthout, April Church. He is preceded in death by his son: Albert Davis; sisters: Velma Gilmore and Minnie Potts.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 12, at 11:00 am, at the Nickle Mortuary, 190 S Center St. Viewings will be held at the Nickle Mortuary on Friday, 6:00-7:00 pm; and Saturday, 10:00-10:40 am, prior to the service. Friends unable to attend are invited to view the recorded video of the Service. Burial will be in the Leamington Cemetery.
