Sharen Lee Westmoreland

Sharen Lee Westmoreland, age 80, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022 in Tooele, Utah. Sharen was born in Ogden, Utah on December 11, 1941, the third of the six children of Lee Ennes and Dora Miles Westmoreland. She grew up in Roy and graduated from Weber High School. During her younger years she was excelled at roller skating, tennis and enjoyed skiing. After graduating she got a job working at Hill Air Force Base. One summer, however, she answered an employment ad to assist in a catering service for the Colorado School of Mines. She was hired, and thereby met the Topham family, whom would play a significant role for the rest of her life.

In 1973, Sharen and her friend, Peggy Topham, were hired by the Union Pacific Railroad to travel throughout the country and feed the railroad repair crews. It was hard work and they did an excellent job. In 1989, they decided to return to Peggy’s childhood home and takeover operation of the family business, “Top’s City Café”. She deeply enjoyed becoming a part of the Delta community and the many friends she made. She and Peggy retired in 2008 and they moved to Tooele.

Sharen will always be remembered for her happy demeanor and playful sense of humor. She could make fast friends with anyone she met. She was very caring, always the peacemaker and ready and willing to help out anyone in need. She was easily able to connect with children and her pets. She loved cooking, stamp and coin collecting. She really enjoyed NFL Football and threw the best Super Bowl Parties you could imagine. She will be remembered and missed!

Sharen is survived by her best lifelong friends: Peggy Topham, Tooele; and Pat Lensch, Washington State, Rosemary Forster, Delta; sister: Colleen (Chuck) Ludlow, Arizona; brother: Lewis Westmoreland, Syracuse; Linda (Edward) Sanders, New York; and the Topham family who loved her like a sister. She is preceded in death by her sisters: Jean (Winford) Fellows and Carol Westmoreland; special friend: Roger Lister.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, November 11, at 11:00 am, at the Nickle Mortuary, 190 S Center St. Burial will follow in the Delta City Cemetery.
