Burial in the Santaquin City Cemetery

Carl Daniel Greenhalgh

Carl Daniel Greenhalgh III, age 69, passed away on December 2, 2022 in Murray, Utah. He was born on November 26, 1953 in Payson, Utah, the second of 5 children born to Karl Daniel and Naomi Throckmorton Greenhalgh. He grew up in Santaquin, Utah. At a young age, his father sat him down on the tractor and taught him how to farm. From then on because his father had other work, Carl took care of his grandmother’s farm - plowing, watering, cutting, raking and bailing - to provide an income necessary to support his Grandma Greenhalgh. He graduated from Payson High School in 1972. He attended the Provo Trade Tech studying Drafting and Architecture. In his younger years he developed a love of and great skill with engines. After trade school, he moved to Salt Lake City to work for the Utah Transit Authority as an engine repairman. He also built himself a hotrod, and participated in several street races down State Street in the mid-1970's, fortunately never getting injured or arrested.

He married Jennifer May Davenport on July 1, 1978 in Payson, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on May 15, 1993. Carl’s skills with engines was much desired and he was given a number of different jobs during their early years of marriage. He first worked for IFA, and eventually worked as manager of the Ready Mix concrete plant in Naples, Utah. He work for his in-laws at Davenport Enterprises in construction. When they were hired to do some work during construction of IPP, Carl saw an opportunity and was hired on with IPSC in 1986. Carl worked there many years as a B Operator. He enjoyed the variety of activity and the many special friends he made at work through the years. He retired in 2020.

Carl was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving as an executive secretary and in many positions with the Scouting program. Carl loved car shows, mud races, rodeos, and 4-wheeling. He especially loved the time spent camping and fishing with his family. He deeply enjoyed hooking a trailer to the back of the 4-wheeler and pulling his laughing grandchildren around the campground. Carl was a beloved friend and neighbor. He spent most of his spare time serving his neighbors by fixing, repairing and lending a helping hand. He was always pleasant and kind and a patient and knowledgeable teacher. He will be deeply missed.

Carl is survived by his wife: Jennifer; son: Karl (Jennifer) Greenhalgh IV; daughter: Carrie (Brad) Timothy; son: David (Audrey) Greenhalgh; daughter: Jessica (CyDoran) Dennison; and 15 grandchildren.

All his Friends and Neighbors are invited to a Viewing held on Friday evening, 6:00-8:00 pm, at the Hinckley LDS Church. A small  Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, December 10, at 1 pm, at the Santaquin City Cemetery.
