Rebecca Lou Rogers Stringer

Rebecca Lou Rogers Stringer (born Pauline Lou Perry), age 80, passed away on November 3, 2023 in Lehi, Utah. She was born on October 14, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri. She spent the first 17 years of her life living in many homes through the foster care system, which helped her gain an appreciation for the importance of family and a love for children. The day before her seventeenth birthday, she came into the care of Dean Arden and Roxy Roskelley Rogers. They later became her adoptive parents. They introduced her to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Rebecca has looked back on her membership in the church with a fondness for her many decades as a primary teacher, and as her health worsened, was disappointed that she couldn’t continue in that capacity. During a Stake Hobo Dance, she caught the attention of William Lee Stringer. They became great companions and were married on December 3, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri. The marriage was solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple on March 5, 1965.

Rebecca had a passion for art and enjoyed working with pastels, acrylics, and oil paints.  She enjoyed listening to music and had a special affinity for musicians such as The Platters, Tammy Wynette, and Elvis Presley. Her children recall that she exemplified honesty in her actions, on one occasion driving several miles back to a store to return an excess penny that was given to her in change. Rebecca was direct and straight to the point, never sugar coating her opinion of things. She saw the potential in people and would push those around her to be the best that they could be. Rebecca was a kind and caring individual who formed friendships to last a lifetime.

Rebecca is survived by her daughters: Patricia (Robert) Black, Teresa Stringer, Cynthia Stringer, Debra Stringer, and Marzette (Travis) Dutton; her son: William (Jennifer) Stringer; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband: William Lee; daughter: Rachel Dawn Stringer; and son: Nelson Dean Stringer.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m., at the Sutherland LDS Chapel, 2650 North 3000 West, Delta. A Viewing will be held 9:30-10:40 a.m. prior to the service. Those unable to attend are invited to the recorded service. Burial will be in the Oasis Cemetery.
