Burial in the Oak City Cemetery

Harold "Doc" Harry Meinhardt

Harold “Doc” Harry Meinhardt, age 93, passed away peacefully in his home in Oak City, Utah on Friday, February 23, 2024. He was born in Delta, Utah on September 13, 1930 to Harry and Norma Hill Meinhardt. He was the oldest in his family growing up with one younger brother, Bob. He loved chasing wild horses with childhood friends, Pete Shields and Dick Clark.

Doc loved working the dirt of the earth. He bought his first farm at the young age of 16. In time, he had all the tractors and equipment that a farmer could ever want. He worked from sunup to sundown and supper always came later, he never wanted to be caught “burning daylight.” Doc was an avid horseman and won 2 trophies and multiple ribbons. His animals came first and he always made sure they were well fed and taken care of before he took care of himself. He took great pride in all of his accomplishments as a farmer and rancher.

He married Lana Ruth Dunlop on August 24, 1963 in Ely, Nevada. They bought their first farm home in Woodrow, Utah and started their family. They farmed and worked the land while raising their combined children. Doc taught his children the value of hard work, loving animals, and having a sense of humor. He loved deer hunting with his parents, children and grandchildren; making wonderful memories together. In 2000 as they were entering their later years of life, Harold and Lana moved to Oak City where they built a beautiful home next to their children, Keith and Joel Meinhardt. He loved to ride his horses throughout the beautiful mountains. He rode horses until the age of 87, when he finally hung up his saddle.

He loved making custom frames from his beloved western calendar pictures and gifting them to all those that touched his life. He will always be remembered for his loving gestures and fun sense of humor. Harold always said a good visit is a short visit, and to count your kids before you leave. But the legacy he left will live on through his posterity and we are so glad he is free from his earthly pains and burdens.

Harold is survived by his wife: Lana; childen: Diane Meinhardt, Price, UT; Jeff (Stephanie) Meinardt, Parowan, UT; Keith (Gail) Meinhardt, Oak City, UT; Sam (Laura) Meinhardt, Glenrock, WY; and Joel Meinhardt; Layton, UT; daughter-in-law: Carol Meinhardt, Sutherland, UT; 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; and children: Cary Meinhardt, JoAnn Meinhardt, and David Meinhardt.

The family thanks all the care givers that have shown him so much love and taken care of him. A special thanks to Shauna Nelson, and Dr. Steven Shamo for their loving service and care.

Graveside Services: Monday, February 26, 12:00 noon, at Oak City Cemetery. Viewing: 10:30-11:40am at the Oak City LDS Church before traveling to the cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.nicklemortuary.com
