Rosalie Wanda Holman Vernon Owens

RosalieOwens2.webRosalie Wanda Holman Vernon Owens, age 72, passed away peacefully at her home on June 28, 2013, her birthday. She was born June 28, 1941 to Stanley W Holman and Ruth E Holman in Alamosa, Colorado. She dedicated 39 years of her life to Education. She worked to acquire a Home Economics degree from Colorado State University, an Elementary Education degree from Adam State College and acquired a Master’s degree from Utah State University. She taught for 13 years in Sanford, CO then continued in Delta, UT for 26 years until retiring in 2004.

Rosalie married Olen Kellen Vernon on May 17, 1975. They were sealed as a family on July 11, 1980 in the Manti LDS Temple. Kellen died on January 12, 1985. Rosalie married Bennett E Owens on October 26, 1995. Rosalie and Bennett served The Lord with a successful mission at the Manti Temple.

Rosalie’s crown jewel of satisfaction was beautifying and maintaining the home and property where she lived to a beautiful, unequal standard. From various rock gardens, multiple types of flowers and trees to a flourishing garden of a variety of vegetables were her pride and joy. Christmas time was no exception as far as beauty is concerned as she loved to show her glow for the Holiday season through the thousands of Christmas lights presented every year around her spacious yard. Rosalie had a knack for starting conversations with anyone, anywhere. She loved getting to know others and what they’re all about. Her need to be happy and laughing was always constant and a wink and a smile from her were there to prove it. Rosalie loved her family and friends and always made that known to all. She was always proud to talk about who she was and where she came from. Occasional phone calls from Rosalie to family and friends concerning, for example, a lesson question or a new topic learned were common, as she always thirsted for knowledge in any form. She always made the best out of any situation. As she grew up, she learned tricks and traits from her Mother and Father that allowed her to spin a difficult situation to the positive. You could always count on her availability or counsel for any tough situation.

She’ll be missed for her commitment to her community and her love of life itself.

Rosalie is survived by her husband: Bennett E Owens of Oak City, UT; children: Craig (Becky) Vernon of Cedar City, UT; Blake (Viviane) Vernon of North Las Vegas, NV; Brooke (Craig) Barney of Kennewick, WA; Jennifer (Mark) Elmont of Mapleton, UT; Brandon (Angie) Owens of Mapleton, UT; 21 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sisters: Barbara (Tom) Bagwell of Manassa, CO; Marjorie (Eddie) Polich of Gallup, NM; Darlene (James) Reed of Sanford, CO; Elaine (Paul) Faucette of Sanford, CO; brothers: Jonathan (Mimi) Holman of Jacksonville, FL; Richard (Billie) Holman of Wendell, ID.
Preceded in death by husband: Olen Kellen Vernon; parents: Stanley & Ruth Holman.
