Evelyn LaRae Giles Luckart

EvelynLuckart2.webEvelyn LaRae Giles Luckart, age 71, passed away on May 26, 2024 in Murray, Utah. She was born on December 10, 1952 in Murray,  the youngest child born to Rex Angus and Agnes Geneva Winn Giles. She grew with her older twin sisters, Rene and Carrie. While still a little girl her family moved from Murray to Roosevelt, Utah and in her youth she helped to raise animals on the family farm. Before her teenage years, her family moved back to the Salt Lake area, first to Draper and then to Granger, where she attended Granger High School.

She met her future husband when she was just 14. Her affection developed from severe dislike, first finding him way to confident and cocky; to over the following years, eventually falling in love with his charm.  Evelyn married Elton Luckart on December 24, 1970 in Carson City, Nevada, and were later sealed in 1983 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made a wonderful home together and raised three children: Cheryl, Shawn and Eric.

While in Salt Lake, Evelyn enjoyed working for the Quanta electronics company, soldering circuit boards. Years later, she, along with Cheryl, were among the first employees when the Delta McDonald’s Restaurant opened. She deeply enjoyed the experience of working alongside her daughter. She also dedicated a lot of time to genealogy work to learn about her family history. Evelyn loved the gospel and enjoyed all the experiences attending the temple. Above all, she loved her family. She loved the family outings fishing, where she would never bait or remove a hook, but always seemed the catch the majority of the fish. She also leaves behind an impressive collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia that she collected throughout her lifetime. Evelyn was a special woman and mother, and will be deeply missed.

Evelyn is survived by her husband: Elton; daughter: Cheryl Bryant; sons: Shawn and Eric Luckart; 9 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren; sisters: Rene Davis and Carrie Johnson.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 31, at 11:00 am, at the Oak City Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.nicklemortuary.com
