Laura Lee Nielson Pilling

Laura Lee Nielson Pilling passed away from natural causes at the age of 83 on August 8, 2024 in Santaquin, Utah. She was born in Alberta, Canada on August 12, 1940. She attended Brigham Young University where her favorite class was “Dance.” (Mom loved to dance, but earned her Masters Degree in “Shopping.”

She married her best friend and eternal companion, Bryce Pilling, on June 24, 1959, in the Cardston Alberta Temple.  Bryce and Laura moved to Delta, Utah in 1973 where they raised their two children.

Family was everything to Mom; she loved to cook, sew, and put everything in place. She enjoyed teaching at Delta Elementary and loved the kids as if they were her own. She also loved helping her husband with his SFW (Sportsmen For Wildlife) and hunting business.

She is survived by her son: Don Pilling, and his wife, Heidi; her daughter: Dixie Henrie, and her husband, Gene; and her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents: Leland Richard and Florence Ada Merrill Nielson; her brothers: John Nielson and Gerry Nielson; and sister: Gwen Bain.

Please join us at her Celebration of Life on Friday, August 16. Friends may gather at the Nickle Mortuary in Delta, Utah from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. The Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Those unable to attend are invited to view the recording of the funeral service. Burial will be held at a future date in the Cardston Cemetery in Alberta, as Mom always wanted her final resting place to be back home in Canada.
