Clara Belle Bennett Cook

Clara Belle Bennett Cook, age 84,  passed away at her home in Delta, Utah on Friday, December 13, 2024. She was born October 29, 1940 in Delta to Orvil Jean “Jack” and Clara Margarett Western Bennett. She graduated from Delta High School, and married Kenneth Ray Cook on March 22, 1958 in Ely, Nevada.

Clara Belle worked for a time as a kindergarten aid and then went into the grocery business working for Quality Market for most of her working career. After leaving Quality, she worked at Harts Convenience store in Delta until she retired.

Clara Belle was a sports enthusiast; playing and later, coaching, softball. She loved watching the Utah Jazz and for the past few years watching rodeo’s on The Cowboy Channel. She recently discovered that she could watch old movies on the Roku and made the most of that by watching her favorite musicals and most of John Wayne’s movies. She was an enthusiastic bowler, and bowled in several leagues. She especially liked traveling with her friends to the different Championship Tournaments throughout the United States.

Two places she really wanted to travel to were Scotland and Alaska. She was able to go to both of those places within the last two years! As her family traveling with her, while in Scotland, she was able to tell us the history of every place we visited! We’re so happy that we could make those dreams come true for her!  We love you, Mom. Safe travels now, Mom. Go wherever you want to.

Clara Belle is survived by her son: Russell (Susan) Cook, Mapleton, Utah; daughter: Jodi (Doug) Nielson, Lynndyl, Utah; 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; brothers: Dewey (Lynda) Bennett, Fountain Green, Utah; Zane (Nancy) Bennett, Delta, Utah. She is preceded in death by her husband: Ray; sons: Doug and Jim Cook; sisters: Velma Hunter, Peggy Hunsaker and Sandra Christiansen.

A Gathering to Celebrate her will be held on Monday, December 16. A Viewing will be held, 9:30-10:40 AM, at the Nickle Mortuary; followed by a Graveside Dedication at 11 AM in the Delta City Cemetery.
