Wilburn Olson

Wilburn Olson, age 85, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 in Delta , Utah. He was born July 24, 1928 in Oak City, Utah to William Lafayette and Elsie Elizabeth Talbot Olson. He married Elaine Sheriff on March 20, 1953 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Wilburn grew up and went to Elementary School in Oak City. He graduated from Delta High School in 1947. Then went on to complete an Auto Mechanic Apprenticeship. He worked in construction and carpentry all his life, for companies such as Roper Lumber, Petersen Ford Co., Tolboes, and Moutair Homes as building foreman in Sunset, Utah. He returned to Millard County to work at Brush Beryllium Plant as a carpenter and painter in 1969. He was active in the LDS Church, serving as Elders Quarum President and Financial Clerk as well as other various callings. In retirement, he enjoyed Beekeeping and Farming. Throughout his life, the most important thing has always been his family, his Greatest achievement.

Wilburn is survived by his loving wife: Elaine Sheriff Olson, Oak City; son: Kendall Wilburn Olson (Narcy), Oasis; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter: Kathy Olson Rowley (Stewart); brothers: Merril, Arvin, and Arthur Olson; sisters: Alice Webb, Nora Nielson, and Jennie Styler; and parents.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 11:00 am, at the Oak City LDS Church. Viewings will be held Monday evening, 7:00-8:00 pm at the Nickle Mortuary; and Monday at the church, 9:30-10:40 am. Burial will be in the Oak City Cemetery.
