Betty Jean Thornton Dabel

Betty Jean Thornton Dabel, age 85, our darling Wife and Mother passed away on December 22, 2014 in Delta, Utah at the Millard County Care Center. Betty was born on March 29, 1929 in Osmond, Wyoming. She was the seventh of the eight children of Charles Clifford Thornton and Inez Jerusha Campbell Thornton. All of her siblings and her parents preceded her in death.

She was raised in Star Valley, Wyoming. She completed the 9th Grade. On December 1, 1945, she married Grant Wilford Dabel. They had just celebrated their 69th anniversary. They are the parents of 4 children, Anna Louise, Steven T., Patricia Jean, and Kelly W. They moved form Star Valley to Lander, Wyoming in 1950. Grant was employed there by Mountain Bell Telephone. They moved to Delta, Utah in 1998 to be near family.

Her favorite hobbies were crocheting and painting ceramics. She loved to travel and to be camping and fishing in the mountains. She also enjoyed dancing. She loved her family and delighted in being near her children and grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her husband: Grant Wilford Dabel, Delta; daughter: Anna (Jerry) Bennett, Delta; son: Steven (Lindia) Dabel, Lake Havasu, Arizona; daughter: Patricia (Bill) Dunlap, Mountain View, Wyoming; son: Kell (Barbara) Dabel, Panacka, Nevada; 19 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at the Nickle Mortuary Chapel. Viewings will be held at Nickle Mortuary on Friday evening, 7:00-8:00 PM; and Saturday prior to the service, 9:30-10:40 AM. Burial will be in the Delta City Cemetery.
