Helen Ruth Pratt Swalberg

August 24, 1930 — September 30, 2015

Our Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Helen Ruth Pratt Swalberg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2015 in Delta, Utah. She just celebrated her 85th birthday. Helen was born August 24, 1930 to Jonathan Isaac and Josephine Warnick Pratt in an upstairs room of the family home in Delta. Helen married Glen Wilford Swalberg on August 29, 1947. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. They are the parents of Paul Wolford, Dean Jonathan and Todd G. Swalberg.

Helen lived her entire life in Delta. She loved this community. Helen was a totally devoted wife and mother. She quietly supported her very busy husband and sons in all they did. She was the ultimate homemaker and always had a lovely meal on the table and a spotless home for her family to gather in. She worked along side her husband at the family business, Delta Auto and Appliance, until she just couldn’t walk over to the store anymore. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many positions. She especially loved serving in the Primary. She had a beautiful singing voice.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen; sons: Paul and Todd; her brother: Don Pratt; sister: Jean Howard; sister-in-law: Carol Pratt; infant sister: Annabelle Pratt; sister-in-law: Donna Sorensen; brother-in-law: Wayne Sorensen; and granddaughter: Cathy Jo. We know they are having a joyous family reunion.

Helen is survived by her daughter-in-law: Jeri Swalberg of Pleasant Grove; son; Dean (Jetta) Swalberg of Delta; daughter-in-law: Barbara Thorne of Orem; sister-in-law: Beryl Sorensen of St. George; sister-in-law: Gloria Pratt of American Fork; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

Helen resided for the past 18 months at Diamond D Inn Assisted Living. Helen’s family is so grateful for the wonderful care she received there. Jane Ann Draper and her staff were so kind and loving to Mom during this difficult time in her life. The Delta 1st Ward has also shown her such compassionate service. Thanks to all of you.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 7, at 11:00 am, at the Delta 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 222 West 200 North. Viewings will be held on Tuesday evening, 7:00-8:00 pm, at the Nickle Mortuary; and Wednesday, 9:30-10:40 am, prior to service. Burial will be in the Delta City Cemetery.
