Margery Leigh Rockwell Greathouse, age 82, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at her home in Delta, Utah. She was born into a family of 13 children on September 22, 1933, in Washburn, Maine to Everett Bernard and Nancy Pearl Shaw Rockwell. She married Ronald Farnsworth Greathouse on February 21, 1951 in Presque Isle, Maine. He died on November 20, 2000.
Margery moved to Delta in 1952 with her beloved husband. She ingrained herself in the community and raised five children. Her greatest joy was taking care of her family and home. She loved to knit and crochet, and sewed many of her children’s clothes when they were young. She enjoyed crafting sock monkeys for all the children in the family. She was an avid bowler and won many trophies during her life. She loved listening to music with kids and grandkids and dancing to Boot Scootin’ Boogie and Elvis. She enjoyed her John Wayne movies and Westerns. She wrote countless pages in her journals and created many beautiful poems. She was always a selfless woman. When her husband became ill, she served for over ten years as his devoted caretaker.
Margery is survived by her children: Ronnie Leigh (Gloria) Greathouse, Deborah (Ron) Oliekan, Gary Fred (Carol) Greathouse, Nancy Jo (Bill) Teeples, James (Jessica) Greathouse; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; and sister: Nancy Eldora Scott. She was preceded in death by brothers: James, Ivan, Franklin, and Junior; sisters: Norma, Hazel, Jean, Idella, Joan, Mabel, and Rowena.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, at 11:00 AM, at the Nickle Mortuary Chapel. Viewings will be held on Friday, 6:00-8:00 PM, at the Nickle Mortuary; and Saturday, 9:30 - 10:40 AM, prior to the service. Burial will be in the Leamington Cemetery.
