Milo Lamar Bringhurst

October 23, 1936 — March 4, 2016

Milo LaMar Bringhurst, age 79, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 in Mesa, Arizona. He was born on October 23,1936 in Pocatello, Idaho to Milo Hammond and Bernice Kowallis Bringhurst. He grew up in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School. He went to work for the railroad, and his job transferred him to Salt Lake City. There he met Elizabeth Jane Allen. They were married on November 21, 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

LaMar joined the US Army in 1959, and served during the Korean War. When he returned, he went to work as a brick mason. First with his uncle, and then he started his own business, M L Bringhurst Construction. He was a hard and dedicated worker, building many church houses, Smith Food King stores, and Circle K’s all over the region.

He was a loving father, raising and teaching his four children. He took pride in serving his community, volunteering on the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Posse and later teaching many firearms certification courses. In 1982,  he moved his family to a ranch in Bicknell, Utah. He loved raising and riding horses, and watching John Wayne movies. In 2005, LaMar and Elizabeth sold the ranch and moved to Oak City where they enjoyed becoming a part of the community.

He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth; children: Tammy (Larry) Gunn, Michael LaMar Bringhurst, Teresa Haggard, Mark (Trista) Bringhurst; 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; siblings: Neline (Vaughn) Smith, Sherry (Dave) Buckway, Lyle Bringhurst.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 12, at 2:30 p.m., at the Oak City LDS Chapel, 35 East Center St. Viewing will be held prior to the service, 1:00-2:10 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Oak City Cemetery.
