Daniel Leon Jackson

Daniel Leon Jackson, age 73, passed away on December 6, 2017 in Provo, Utah. He was born on March 23, 1944 in Farmington, New Mexico to Daniel East and Myrtle Meriam Madaris Jackson. He was adopted by Charles Stephen Jackson, along with his sister and brother, shortly after his mother and Charles were married. He married Janice Petersen in 1965. They had four children together: Kim, Laura, Brian, and Kelly.

Daniel “Leon” grew up in Delta, Colorado and Uravan, Colorado. He attended school in Nucla, Colorado, where he excelled in sports, especially baseball. Music was a big part of his life. He loved both listening to and playing music. He enjoyed sharing his talent playing  the drums and guitar with his family and friends. When time allowed, he also enjoyed a good fishing trip.

Most important to him was his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always so proud of everything they did. He always bragged about having the best-looking grandchildren.

Leon was a long haul truck driver and his job took him to all 48 of the contiguous United States. He was also a heavy machinery operator and worked in mines in Colorado, Utah, and Nevada.

He is survived by his daughters: Kim (Clyde) Shumway; Laura (Jim) Walker; sons: Brian L. Jackson; Kelly C. Jackson, all of Delta, UT; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents: Charles S. And Meriam Jackson; brother: Andy Jackson; sister: Virginia L. Jackson.

A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at a later date at the Delta (Colorado) Cemetery.
